The Common Powertrain Controller (CPC) is a part used in 2015 Freightliner Cascadia trucks with Detroit Diesel engines. The CPC is the gateway for contact between the Motor Control Module (MCM) and the vehicle’s electronic system.
The MCM’s job is to figure out and analyze all the parameters that the engine needs to work. The MCM figures out how much the engine is being used, how hot or cold it is, and how many other senses it needs to work.
The numbers found by the MCM are sent to the rest of the car through a CAN interface. The 2014 freightliner Cascadia 125 is controlled by the engineer through the CPC4, which acts as a gateway for the MCM to play back the information.
The CPC unit also takes analog and digital data from the throttle, ABS, EBM, cooler level, etc., which the engine and operator also need.
